Malleymoo wins well on debut
Former breezer has a Bright future
he's a nice colt to have and was well bought at the breeze-ups (Goresbridge, for €62,000) by a friend of mine bloodstock agent Barry Lynch. He's a very good physical specimen by an unproven sire (Lightening Spear). Whatever he does over seven furlongs this year he'll do more over a mile next year. He's done things mostly on raw ability this year. There were some horses today which were well thought but I was quietly confident that my lad had come forward since Naas and that would appreciate this nice slick surface.
Super strikes for Coakley and friends
It's great, the horse is owned by good friends of mine and they were kind to buy a horse for me to train, so I'm just glad to give them a winner, . Ciaran Mooney, Adam Mooney, Mark McCloskey and Colm Holmes own him and the first three have been friends for over 30 years. He didn't handle Galway and in Leopardstown the ground was too quick. He'll probably be up here very month or so.
Keane levels with Lee, on 80
we're delighted with that, she's a nice filly. We were going to go straight to the Cooley Stakes but she had a nice rating (88) so we said we'd take this in. She had a wide draw to overcome but, given what we think of her, we thought that Colin and herself would overcome that which they did. she'll go straight to the Cooley Stakes now and hopefully can get a bit of black-type. She hasn't too many races under her belt and she'll improve. Colin said she's definitely one for the team next year as well.
Nose separates McGuinness trained 1-2
it's been a long time coming with this fella (Pierre Lapin) and I thought he was after being beaten again. I'm delighted with the two horses, they've both ran crackers and the two apprentices (Caffrey and Cordouan's rider Cian MacRedmond) gave them both great rides. They didn't go a mad gallop, in all fairness to this horse he just stays and gallops. He did it well. He's been running consistently well all year in some big premier handicaps and he's a good horse. He's after booking his ticket for another year in the place. Cordouan is a smashing horse, he's very green but he'll be fine.
O'Connell's mare Rolls back the years
she had a lot of problems but we got her back and we'll keep going with her here, as Mikey said she enjoyed that surface. She was hurt for a while and then had a few other little bits and pieces that held us up but she's sound and everything is good now. Hopefully she'll be alright in the morning and we'll go again.
