Dundalk specialist notches a sixth success
he's been a right old servant to me, Tom and the owners. He's had six wins here and is very consistent when he gets back here. He's been disappointing on the grass but after coming back here recently, he seemed to have a bit more life about him at home. I just had to wait for the gap to open but it actually kept me in for long enough as once I got there he didn't do too much. I was happy I got there at the right time. We were happy that the visor would bring a bit more improvement as he can be a lazy old horse. He can jump out and travel well some days and other days he can jump out and not try at all. He's a quirky old horse but once he puts his mind to it he's well able to do it.
Harry's Bar records 16th all-weather win
he's been a great money spinner. I'm delighted with him and Cian (MacRedmond) gave him a great ride. A huge thing with him here is that he needs that inside draw as he's inclined to lug when he's on the outside - I don't know why. Cian was very good on him and that's his third win on him. Small fields suit him and he's just so much better on the all-weather than he is on the grass. He has a few little problems but when you can get them ironed out he's a great horse to have. He's been a great horse and we'll campaign him during the winter. He's entered in the Mercury Stakes and we'll bring him back for that.
Lyons lands Listed Legacy Stakes with Pipsy
at the Curragh I said 'this one is getting quicker' so I nominated this race straight away to Patrick (Cosgrove). I said we'd have a look at this race and then put her away. She's only getting going at the back-end and I'm trying to get at least two runs into most of them. We knew after Cork that we had bumped into one (winner King Cuan) and he proved that afterwards. I liked what she did at the Curragh and she's pretty straight-forward at home. Colin said she has turned into a real sprinter. the break will now come at a nice time and we'll let her wind down, let her grow up and mature. We'll look forward to her next year. It's cracking to get winning black-type for Patrick, who is an owner/breeder - that's what it's about for him.
Gosford strikes late in nursery
We were a bit disappointed at the Curragh (finished seventh) but we just thought it was ground,. He's a genuine fast ground horse and is a lovely moving horse so we just saved him for here. It looks like he wanted every yard of that and I think he wasn't doing an awful lot either. Hopefully that means there is a bit more in the tank and we'll look for something else up here. He got a nice clean run and it looks like he'll get the mile. I think he has toe enough for seven though and Billy said that too.

Oliver doubles up with Jack
That's great and he did it well,. He had a very nice run first time at Leopardstown and we expected him to improve but I was the most stunned man at Punchestown on his next run. When I watched it again the ground was very chopped on the inside and he just wasn't going. It was a similar thing at Down Royal, he just didn't handle the ground but we had no opportunity and this was the place to come as he qualified for this race. We were reasonably hopeful, you can never be confident, and we just said to Ben to keep it as straight-forward as he could. When the horse was relaxed he decided to take it over after the first two furlongs and he made it all from there. It was a nice simple run and the horse did well. He wants good ground, obviously it's unlikely to dry up on the turf so he'll probably come back here.
Lee completes Dundalk double on Dandyville
he's a nice little horse to have in the yard. He was carrying top-weight today so he performed well. He was stepping up to seven furlongs and just kept galloping towards the line. He was fit and well coming here and loves it up here. Huge credit to the owners (Dr J Syndicate) as well, they bred him and they are local to the yard. We have him nominated for Dubai so we'll see what happens.
