"He could be the best horse that I've had" - Hogan on Sceptical
He's a right horse. It was James' idea to come here as I hadn't this in the plan at all,. He won well the last day and we had intended to go straight to Lingfield on Good Friday as he was qualified for it. James (McAuley, owner) said over the weekend, would it be an idea to run him in this race for the experience because he did run around a bit the last day and was a bit green. He'd need all the experience he has because Lingfield is quite sharp. Dropping back a furlong today I didn't think it would be as easy as that, hence why we claimed 7lb off him with him getting 11lb the last day. I'd say his days in handicaps are numbered. You'd love the way he cut through them. He has a lot of class about him and natural ability. It's great that he's done that and he could be the best horse that I've had. He looks class. We ironed out one or two issues with him early on. He had his wind done after he won his maiden here and he's improved no end. We had a good sprinter in Make A Challenge last year and still have him going forward this season. You never know the two of them could clash in a big race. He works with Make A Challenge and we knew he was good. I was a little bit worried going to Doha with Make A Challenge because if Sceptical hadn't won here the Friday night beforehand he had no business being out there and we were already there at that stage. Luckily he won and Make A Challenge ran a good race on very quick ground and got bumped around. We're looking forward to him as well
Corvus Glaive well up to the task in claiming company
He's done it well. He probably will be claimed and if he is, best of luck to somebody,. He's raw, he's just on his third run, and we threw him in and handicapped him ourselves to give him a chance. He's done what we thought he could do, win a race of that calibre. If he's not claimed we'll probably geld him and have a bit of fun with him in that grade, but if he's claimed best of luck to somebody else.
Sayesse makes it 2nd time lucky for Kelly
He came with a late run and just got up on the line. He had little weight on his back,. He was a bit unlucky the first time for me. We'll look for something similar. He's a grand wee type of horse and we could look at a claimer or something. We'll see what the handicapper does.
Donagh O'Connor going from strength to strength
He's a nice horse, a fine big athletic horse,. I'm not sure Dundalk is even his surface because he's quite heavy topped and probably a turf horse really. He's a nice horse to have and he'll go jumping eventually. He's doesn't do much in front and he was babyish in the yard even. He's still a big baby and maybe those Morpheus' are bit late maturing mentally. I'm happy to get him over the line again and we gave him plenty of time off after the last time because he is big. I'm delighted with that.
Kerandi "only going to improve" after winning start
Great night for the Bhoys as O'Connor doubles up
I'm absolutely delighted for Jonny Hayes who has been supporting the yard for the past eight or nine months,. I had a good conversation with him on the way up and told him I really fancied this lad so hopefully he had a few quid on him. It's great to get a high profile owner into the yard like that, getting the support behind me, and to reward these owners like that is brilliant. It was a brilliant ride by Donagh.
Perfect night for Whelan as he makes it 2 from 2
She deserved that as she had been very consistent,. It was either go here for the maiden or to the handicap and she's not very big so we decided to stay to the maiden. She's got a beautiful pedigree as her grand-dam is Chelsea Rose, she's got a good page so she's got that going forward for her. We'll have a look now and see, she's not overly big so we'll have to place her races wherever we go. I'm delighted with her.
Charlie beats his former neighbour Billy
I was delighted he got up. Billyfairplay, that got claimed last week, ran a cracker as well. They are two tough genuine horses,. The boys are lucky. It's Darren (Sheridan's) first horse and Pat (Lynch) is very lucky as well.
