On his second start for Noel Kelly Sayesse sprung a 14/1 surprise in the Craic At The Track 13th & 14th March Handicap at Dundalk.
Pre-race most of the attention was on Jon Ess (13/8 into evens) but the front-runner had to yield close home to the Joe Doyle-ridden Sayesse, going down by a neck.
Sayesse overcame the fact that he was short of room over a furlong out, forcing Doyle to switch left.
He wasn’t the only one to be stopped in his run, Millswyn short of space a furlong out. That fellow was switched right by Mikey Sheehy and kept on in the final hundred yards, ending up in fourth place.
“He came with a late run and just got up on the line. He had little weight on his back,” said Kelly.
“He was a bit unlucky the first time for me. We'll look for something similar. He's a grand wee type of horse and we could look at a claimer or something. We'll see what the handicapper does.”
