For Gortnatona too strong in Wexford
She jumped like an ox, she gained two lengths at the back of each hurdle. Her mother (Dromhale Lady) was an awful tough mare who kept improving and won a load of races (seven) for Michael Hourigan.
A Mullins family affair as Fearachain wins
I thought he was entitled to do that on his bumper form. I will talk to Peter and Sandra (McCarthy) but I'd say he will go for the two mile five handicap hurdle on the Saturday of Galway. Maybe it is a tough assignment to go for one of those big ones on a first run in a handicap but sure we are going to give it a shot now away. He has had two runs fairly quick now so I'd say he won't go to Killarney and will go to Galway.
Tony and Danny Mullins land Wexford double
That is three out of three for our runners going left-handed. We had one the last day and now two today. This horse can't handle soft ground and he will race away on this ground for the summer but we are a little worried about his wind and that is probably why he couldn't handle soft ground. We are going to keep running him because if we operate now he will miss the rest of the summer. He has a wind issue and it would make us a little worried about Galway with the uphill finish but we will see what will happen. We will address his wind when the ground goes and hopefully we will have a smart horse for next summer. He loves that ground anyway. I don't know where he will go, maybe Galway, I don't think we will pull him out again for Killarney so soon.
Outsider Arnaud takes the feature at Wexford
It was a bit of surprise but jumping is the name of the game and he did do that. On ratings he had a chance but I didn't think he'd be good enough to beat the second horse. He was probably fortunate but they are there to be jumped. He will be kept going for the summer and two miles is as far as he will go. He could go back over hurdles, he is probably better handicapped over hurdles than fences.
Easter Hunt wins dramatic beginners chase
Illtakeitfromhere sticks at it well
I was looking around to see who would come and beat my two as they were approaching the straight! I was disappointed with The Mooch who probably just didn't stay. I know he was carrying top weight but that's what it looked like.
Hows Patsy just prevails in bumper
I expected a big run for him. He ran a lovely race in Roscommon and I thought it was a good bumper there. We were only beaten eight lengths and I suppose he just improved from that run. We thought he was promising all the time. Even going to his point-to-point we thought he would win it but a horse fell in front of him and he got hurt and he was off for a while after that but we still felt we had a decent animal. He will go for a maiden hurdle now, he is well able to jump but after the last day I had to give him another crack at a bumper.
