Longclaw takes incident-packed opener
It was probably made easier for him with what went on, but in these type of races you can have that happen. They are there to be jumped. He was travelling away and jumping away in front, and he is two from two now. He’s a nice horse and he’s going the right way. He could be a nice horse over hurdles. He probably won’t (go back to America), he will keep tipping away here and obviously have to keep stepping up in grade now. Maybe on the Flat he had gone a bit stale. He was a highly-rated horse on the Flat. He always looked like he would take to jumping and he has.
Down Royal appearance a winning one for Meghan
Mig Des Taillons a first for Turley
I’ve had point-to-point winners, but it is great to get my first winner under rules. He can be a keen sort, it is more a handbrake you need with him! But he settled lovely today. He’ll be out again in a couple of weeks. I’m from Downpatrick and we have the farm in the middle of the racecourse.

20/1 Trickey Trix makes all under Maxwell
For some unknown reason the last twice she was a bit hesitant at jumping off. We just said we would change tactics today and maybe get her away in front. Conor (Maxwell) said she kept going and enjoyed herself in front. He said she kept finding and finding for him — I’ll give her that, she’s game. I was just disappointed with her a couple of times, maybe she was in season. I’m delighted she is off the mark for her owner (Patrick Macken)who has a couple of horses with us. We’ll see what the handicapper does, but we’ll keep her going for another while once the conditions suit.
Cork mare wins the bumper up North
We always thought a lot of her at home. Her point-to-point form wasn’t great but she always showed us plenty. We are delighted with her now. They probably just didn’t go as quick for her (in Galway) but definitely the better gallop here suited her.
