Meade and Eoin Walsh win Downpatrick's opener
he was 100 per cent today and he did it well, he stayed well and he jumped and travelled. I always thought I was getting there - when he met the rising ground he stayed all the way to the line. Some of his earlier runs were very good behind some nice horses. He might have just lost his way towards the end of last season. He seems to have found his stride again now. Noel (Meade) was confident - conditions were perfect for him.
Blackmore and Holden on the mark with well backed winner
he saw it out really well and there's plenty more improvement to come. Ellmarie was very happy with him coming into the race - it's great he could get the job done.
Jockey Gainford rides his first racecourse winner
to be fair to her she has been running consistent enough. We just said we would claim the seven (pounds) off her, Jordan has a bit of experience with the point-to-points. He rides out for us and he works for us, so he deserves his chance. He's local to us and is based with me - he works for me seven days a week. He has done loads of schooling at home. He will probably stay point-to-pointing for the year and then maybe change over (to conditional) because he is very light. He kind of got caught down at the bottom (of the hill) but it worked out grand and she stayed going up the hill. We'll maybe come back here with her for the next meeting (in October) and then we'll give her a break.
Charm continues handicap climb, first D'patrick win for Hackett
it's hard to know what to make of him - we put the cheekpieces on him to see if we could get him to travel today. He's lazy and he is switching on and off. He travelled ok today but at the top of the hill you would wonder. He toughed it out well in fairness to him and we would be happy enough with him. He jumped very well today and will jump a fence but we'll probably stay hurdling for the minute. We'll stay aiming small for the minute and see how we go. I've only had a handful of runners up here and he is my first winner here. The man who bred the horse (John Magee) is from up here, so it is nice.
Dullea happy to clock up miles with Mohart
We are not really a betting yard but we thought he would run very well. He's been a nice horse and a frustrating horse - He's had an awful lot of injuries and niggles. Where we go next, the handicapper will dictate that to us. He probably doesn't want real heavy winter ground yet he doesn't want top of the ground either, so today was perfect. The ground was fabulous here. I'd say it is our first winner in a long time and probably only our third or fourth winner in a long time.
Global Racing enjoys his spin around Downpatrick
Look he has been consistent and he was entitled to win some day. He jumped great and we will find something similar again. He's game and he is what he is, he's a grand horse at a level.
Barker's half-brother wins bumper for owner/breeder Duignan
he's bred by Eamonn (Duignan, owner) himself and is a half brother to Barker. He just had little niggly issues all his life and he has only come right this year and he probably needed time to mature. He has a very good attitude and stays really well and he is a helluva jumper, so we are looking forward to him going hurdling. This was probably going to be his last chance in a bumper. We felt we didn't get the best out of him in Bellewstown, we should have made more use of him. He has thrived since his last run. Declan (Lavery) said he loved the ground today. We know he goes on fast ground. I think the test of stamina was the whole thing, he said he was always in his hands. I'd say we will see the best of him over two and a half miles.
