Weld team pleased to bag a two-year-old winner
It's nice to get a two-year-old winner. The dam was very good, she was placed in Group Ones and was a group winner herself. This is arguably the nicest produce that she's had so far, physically,. She's done it well. She was very green, I thought she was sure to win a furlong-and-a-half down but she was running all over the place. When the penny dropped you felt she was going to get there. I'd say another furlong will be appreciated in time. We'll step her up to stakes class now and see. She'll have learned an awful lot from that and she hit the line well, which is the main thing.
Merchants Quay pleases Lordan with Curragh win
Bearberry gets up late to score for Harrington & Foley
She had a great run at Leopardstown and she came on a ton from that,. I was a bit worried about her when we were saddling her as she was a bit fractious and when she went out on the track she was humping her back a bit. She showed it coming out of the stalls. There is plenty of improvement in her and I'd say we'll look for a nice winners of one. We'll try and nick a bit of black-type, it would be nice for the owner/breeders. She probably wants to go up in trip as well as she just got there on the line.
O'Brien and Lordan complete Curragh double
Double for Harrington & Foley as Bee strikes
It's great they put that on as an extra race!. She's a lovely filly and she had a lovely run at Naas. There's not much of her but she's got a big heart. He got into a lovely lead there as he had the prime draw there and he couldn't give it away. It's lovely for her owner/breeder David Reid Scott who isn't too well. He was in the Mater for a year and he's in rehab in Dun Laoghaire now. Like the other filly earlier she'll probably go for a winners of one and then try her in a Listed race as they are owner/breeders again.
Gee Rex finally gets to hallowed number one spot
He ran well the last day and Declan gave him a good ride. The step up to a mile suited him,. He probably doesn't want to be in front too long. He was drawn out there and Declan said he wanted to keep him wide. I'd say it worked to be honest. Hopefully he can progress. He was a good two-year-old so he's entitled to win off his mark.
Apprentice Derby hero Tonkinese a 4th Joseph O'Brien winner on the day
I'm delighted with that. I'm delighted for Jack (Cantillon) and all in the syndicate. There are a big team of people in the horse and they will have got great sport out of that,. Dylan gave him a lovely ride from the draw. He's a consistent horse and has progressed with his runs. It worked out well for him today. He travelled into the straight and there was a good gallop on in front of him.
