It is Conor's only ride on the night and he said the winners have been coming from the outside really in a pattern all year. As much as (stall) 10 is not ideal for five furlongs, it probably isn't a bad thing. Conor has been riding her all along. We forced her along a little bit early on over a couple of races and he said she doesn't have to be forced along. He followed and switched out and it worked perfectly today and he gave her a great ride. He said she'll have no problem going on the grass as well. She hasn't had a hard winter really. When she last ran in January, we said we would wait for this pot. It is the final (day of the winter series) and the prize money is very good.
Stars Dances to another Dundalk win
Spirituoso springs 66/1 shock
The (previous) owner wanted to sell her. I was sure that was in her. I just said to Dr David Adam 'buy this horse' as he is such a lucky owner. She was going cheap at two grand. I just said I needed to get those colours on the horse to get it to win! He's had 12 or 13 winners for me now. She shows plenty at home, that is why we are so annoyed with her at the races. She let down the owner who had her before quite a bit. She was second here and we thought that was going to be her day. Then she let us down after it. The problem was I couldn't get her into a race. The only way to get her in (with her rating) was to hope that the field wasn't full in the higher grade. She scraped in and Joe said to me in the weigh room 'you've drafted me in again' and I said to him he's the only man who gets a tune out of her! He was the only man for the job. He'll get plenty of rides off me now, I'd say. He gave her a great ride and I could watch that all day long. We are going to try her on the turf but she definitely wants a bit of good ground. If she never wins again, her job is done. She's a two-time winner and is a half-sister to a stakes horse over hurdles. She can go breeding. The plan is that everything that comes off the all-weather will try the turf this year. We want wins at any level whether they are rated 38 or 98. We have 11 riding out at the moment but would like to have more. Adams Barbour is up here tonight and he wins the award for the most wins (in the winter series) and that i
Lady back on Song
She's probably a filly that doesn't do a whole pile when she gets there. She needs to be delivered late. She's a smashing big filly and loads of scope. Hopefully she can go on again from this. She'll run on the turf and would want nice ground, I wouldn't be running her with much of an ease.
Skontonovski on top in bunch finish
Dilemma takes no Prisoner's over six
He was very unlucky the last day, he had a very bad trip around the outside and he just got rolling a bit too early. We freshened him up and I'm delighted as I took a chance running him over six. There was no seven-furlong race for him and it was champions finals day and I really wanted to support it because it is a good thing. Well done to Jim (Martin) and his team for putting it on. I was keen to have a runner and took a chance and it paid off. I've learned that I have options now because he is not just a seven-furlong horse as I had him pigeonholed. We will look at six and seven-furlong races on the turf but as I alluded to the last time, I am targeting the Sovereign Path in Leopardstown on Champions Weekend. It was a very fast pace up front and he (Donagh) rode with a good clock in his head and picked up the pieces. I wouldn't get carried away with the distance, as the pace did fall away and he benefitted from a very good ride. He will run on Sunday (at Naas) under the 5lb penalty. We have about 18-20 horses for the new Flat season. We need to build a bit more but we are happy with how they are running.
Stick leaves previous form behind to open account
The last day he anticipated the gates and just missed the break by three or four lengths. It probably cost him at the end. I was very confident coming tonight as his work has been exceptional. We'll take them when they come. He's a Frankel out of a mile and a half Listed and Group mare. He was always going to stay. He will go on nice ground on the turf and I'm looking forward to it. He's one I have been looking forward to for a while. My girlfriend Sarah (Dixon) has been riding work on him. I was on my own and with her helping out now it has made a difference. I'd say he will only ever do enough and got the job done. He's everything you would want in a horse, he's built like a sprinter but he will stay. We'll step him up into a mile or even a mile-and-a-quarter. He's a fun horse bought for little money and we will enjoy him.
