'Salsify Sweeney' wins Dundalk's opener
the second last time here I thought he was a bit unlucky. He did it handy enough there today. I'll see what I get from the handicapper and I'll take it from there. He'll probably come back here because he likes it.

'Thyestes type' justifies strong favouritism at Dundalk
it's a while since Declan rode a winner for me; we had a lot of success together so it's great. That's my first winner for Micky Smith (owner) and his half-sister also won here before Christmas. It's great for all involved. He's a gorgeous big horse, he was quite weak when we got him even though he's a five-year-old; he wouldn't have been out of place in the parade ring ahead of the Thyestes, he's that big. I think we'll have plenty of fun with him during the summer. We might try him once more here and see what the handicapper gives us. We'll probably jump a hurdle with him later in the summer as well. He has a lot of ability and he should progress more because he's big and strong. Fastnet Rocks need a little bit of time.
Joseph O'Brien denies brother Donnacha a first training win
he had to go and beat his brother!. Alan (Persse, winning jockey) has given him a lovely ride because there wasn't much pace. He wanted to be handy and he's let him do his own thing. The horse stays and he'll stay a bit further than this (mile). He had no weight on his back and I think when he kicked turning in it probably won him the race as it was hard to peg him back in a slow run race. He's been gelded since his last run and there is no reason why he couldn't go and win again now.

Poignant second leg of double for McGuinness & McDonogh
it's a bit emotional because he belonged to Bart O'Sullivan our yard sponsor who passed away before Christmas. He got me the Dooleys (Syndicate) who own Saltonstall, some good horses and new owners in and I owe him a lot and I'm really delighted that this has happened tonight. His son James has taken over the reins and he's been a great help. I just can't thank him enough, he's just been super for us. It's great for the horse, and we're delighted for him, but it's just great for Bart who is up there looking down on us. I'm really really grateful for him. Seven is his trip. We'll come back here again and I think there is a good handicap in him during the summer.
Lynam leads with 1-2 in Dundalk's finale
it's good to win with him. He was a little bit disappointing the last day but he came back to form today and won well. The runner-up (Masalai) ran his race, they are what they are. Everything went right for them. It's nice to get the first one of the year up anyway and get it out of the way.
