Pillar to post winner for McGuinness & Hoban
it was great. He got 4lb for being second here last time and I thought for a horse in that type of grade he might be in trouble. Conor gave him a great positive ride. I just told him to jump out, I knew Ty Rock Brandy was drawn low and she can dominate, so I told him to go to the front and let him go hard. That's exactly what he did and he said got a breather into him before he turned in. He's a tough horse. He's a great fun horse. He belongs to Sean Gallagher and it's great to get another winner for him. Hopefully the handicapper won't be too hard on him.
Lady De Vesci goes unclaimed following Dundalk win
she had a good winter here last year but ran a couple of times this year and wasn't sparking for whatever reason. A couple of runs brought her back to herself and maybe that was a drop down in class. She travelled well and it's nice to win another one with her. When she's in good form she's very solid and she loves the surface. That's probably a good trip for her, they went good and fast and got strung out a bit so that helped her. She gets a mile-and-a-half but sometimes she's a bit keen over it so that trip (1m2f) is good because they go a bit faster and she settled a bit better.
Art Of America wins in blanket finish
I didn't think he'd handle the surface because all along they have been telling me he doesn't want quick ground. He lost his way so much that he was doing nothing so I decided we'd try something different. I actually had him in the claimer but decided that I'd better not run him in it because if he does win it he'll get claimed because he'll have proved he handles the track. I said we'd run him in the handicap and if he doesn't win we can run him in a claimer again. He redeemed himself a bit now and will probably come back here.
De Bromhead's Aerclub makes winning debut
he's a fine big horse and Henry loved him. He said if I was to get there to leave it as late as I could because he might be a bit idle in front. He travelled around good and went forward well. He had a bit of a look but he'd be entitled to on his first run. He's a fine big horse, handled the surface well and is very likeable. We didn't go mad but I thought we were quickening all the way up the straight, that's what it felt like. I'd say he's a nice horse going forward. He travels well but he relaxes so there is always a chance that he'll get further.
Psyche makes it third time lucky for Harrington
you'd have to be very happy with that. He was shrewdly bought (for E58,000) by Patrick Cooper at the Goresbridge breeze-up sale and he's a real nice horse for next season. We actually trained his dam, Ode To Psyche, and he's a lovely horse going forward. The colts took a while to come to themselves. Maybe they were just a bit backward and will make good three-year-olds. That's probably him for the year and we'll bring him back in the spring.
Keane completes Dundalk double for owner/breeder
she won like a nice filly and is still plenty green, she had an awkward head carriage there. Colin said she still feels like one that the penny is only dropping with. She had a lovely first run and then she got lost in Leopardstown in bottomless ground. We were a little disappointed but just decided to put a line through it. I wasn't sure whether she'd handle this surface or not. She's been a filly that's taken a bit of time and I'm delighted for the owner/breeder Michael Smith. He puts a lot into the game and has horses with several different lads. He's over the moon because Mooretown Lady was a good filly for him and it's the first winner she's bred. Hopefully she can do a bit more for him now in the spring. She'll probably be put away now.
