Corby rides 2nd winner for boss O'Brien
Sales bound Storm lands punt
He did everything right there tonight. He's a hardy little devil and he'd go through anything for you,. He was a horse that was bought for a syndicate and thankfully the lads are here tonight and having a great night. He's in the sales on Tuesday at Goffs as the syndicate has run it's course now. . He's a horse that someone is going to have a lot of fun with as he's well handicapped and he could run away here all winter.
6 in it now as Smullen wins on Katiymann
He had a nice run here last week. He loves running at a strong pace and it worked out tonight as they went good and hard,. He dropped the lot, settled well and came home strong. He's very consistent. Pat said when he rode him last week that it just took him a while to trust the surface and he thought he'd be better on it tonight. He loves a fast pace. He relaxes off it and it's not an un-genuine thing. He likes being off the bridle and he has a great turn of foot. We had a sprinter years ago that was the same, Snaefell. If Snaefell took a hold in a race he wouldn't beat me, but if he was off the bridle being pushed along he'd fly home. That's just his style. He'll come back here next month as there is a nice mile handicap for him.
Boxer really thriving for the Coakleys
I rode him work myself on Tuesday like I normally do and I was very confident that he had come on from the last run,. We'll stick to coming up here between seven furlongs and a mile, and look for something again in three weeks time. It's brilliant. I don't even give Ross instructions and he just rides him as he finds him. We're very lucky. Michael Ryan gave him to us as a present two years ago when Johnny Murtagh trained him. We're very grateful to him. He's a family pet. At home my wife looks after him and he's the kindest horse. He's out there with an old horse that Ger Lyons used to train, In Theory. The two of them are buddies and they are out in the field all day long. He just seems to be thriving now and hopefully it'll continue. Hopefully he'll keep going for the winter and keep improving.
O'Grady's Bouquet gains deserved win
Veteran Cover so game in Listed race win
That's great and he's had a cracking season,. I was a bit worried when he got headed but it takes a good one to get by him or beat him when everything is right. He doesn't mind the all-weather and he battled back really well. I thought it was a cracking run from the second, being a three-year-old with a 3lb penalty. I'm delighted and it was so worth the trip over. Dave said the wind knocked him off balance about two out and he changed his legs a little bit and it took him time to get balanced. He does, for the most part, hang right quite a lot and that didn't help either, it pushed him more right. He could go to Hong Kong but he's 113 and they don't really look at you until you are 115. That's probably it for the season as he's won three listed races now and a Group three. He'll probably have a break and come back at 11 with a bit of luck next year. That sounds daft but hopefully he is as good as ever.
Smullen 5 behind after Dundalk double
It's not the nicest of conditions but it's nice to get his maiden won. We're only feeling our way along with him. He obviously had the form to win it and when you give a good few quid for a lad like that it's nice to see them go and win. He's a big scopey horse. We'll talk to Paul and see where we go from there. You'd like to think he'll only get stronger with time. He showed a very good attitude in those conditions to pick up as it's not easy and we were very happy with him. We'll get him home and see now. There are a few handicaps up here. We had it in the back of our head that we might bring him to Dubai but I'm not sure if he's mature enough for that yet. We'll get him home and have a think about it. I'm delighted for Paul who is a huge supporter of the yard. To be able to give big money for a horse like that is a great position to be in and he deserves all the luck.
Direction knows where the line is
He stuck at it well. I didn't think he had any hope turning in but he just flew home,. He has plenty of ability. He was up the weights a bit tonight and I thought that might go against him. He won well and Oisin knows him inside out. We'll keep him on the go here and pick out something again in two or three weeks.
