Lowly rated Frankel-gelding wins Dundalk's claimer
the owners (Phoenix Bloodstock Syndicate) are on the plane to Lanzarote and said if he came first, to claim him back. I was only running him to get him up a few pound to get him into races because it is so hard to get in. I've spent the last two months trying to get him in. He ran well over 1m2f and he stays but we said we would try him over six as he has loads of speed. They went hard and we took our time.
Dundalk win marks the beginning for Genesis
he's a home bred and we actually won this race two years ago with his half-brother (Dandy Warhol, by Dandy Man), so it is good for Michael and Ruth (Foley) who still have the mare. He had two good solid runs and he (McAteer) made his mind up and said we are going forward. The horse was much more comfortable and wasn't shaking his head about today. He's a winner now and we will see what happens, he could go to the turf. I had only my mind set for him running well tonight.

sometimes I think it is important not to get too caught up in pedigree and just train what is in front of you. It is a useful family and hopefully he'll get a bit more credit. he is a big, honest horse that loves a gallop. He has thrived up here, obviously gets a mile well and likes the surface. I think he is a good advertisement for what we do with a relatively small team of horses. He is just another nice one to have in the yard. He likes to come from off the pace and like any horse, it is important that he relaxes early and breathes. He came home strongly and I don't think another two furlongs would be a problem either. We will enjoy today and we have plenty of options now.
Jockey Whelan completes Dundalk double
the horses have been running well, so it is great to get one on the board this year. Mary Bagot has had two solid runs and it was good to get her head in front. We had to step her up in grade because there was no 47-65, but she has handled it well. She is only a handful but she is honest and a trier. Ronan has given her a lovely ride, so I'm delighted for her owners (the Rogers family) who are great supporters of ours. the yard is busy and full, we have 60 horses in the yard and have 16/17 juveniles. It will be tricky for them early-on with this weather and ground but the season is coming towards us so we are looking forward to it.
