Cnoc flies home for Condon
Davy said he must be very good to win from where he came from. He was nearly brought down at the first, and was taken wide at another stage. He must be a machine!. He could be a Galway Hurdle horse in time and did well to win. He's Foildubh's training partner, so I knew he was good. He'll go for a winners-of-one next.
Ross adds to Doyle's Tramore record
He missed last year with leg trouble but ran well enough last time on the Flat. He may go over fences next and will continue to mix it.
Carlos ends drought for Stanners
We'll see what the handicapper gives him now before deciding where to go next. He's a massive horse and really needs fences. He was struggling a bit there at one point but, even though he's a big horse, he still has a bit of speed.
Jam on top for Condon
Ruby Lends punters A Hand
He's been threatening that for a while but our horses haven't been firing. We had the luck tonight, and he'll probably stick to fences for the moment and mix it later in the summer. I didn't think he'd still be a maiden on the Flat but he's been a good servant and Ruby said he was never worried during the race.
Amarillo shows the way
He seems to love tight tracks and better ground. He won his bumper at Wexford, his maiden hurdle at Downpatrick and now his beginners chase here. As I said at Downpatrick, I didn't think it would take him as long to win over hurdles. I was running him at Grade 1 tracks but he just seems to prefer the tighter tracks. He won his point-to-point last November and Paul said he was slow over the first couple of fences. It took him a bit of time to get the hang of fences again. He's been on the go for 12 months now and I was going to give him a break but Paul said he's in good form and to keep going.
Townend replaces Russell to complete double
It's a long time since I paid 33 thousand for him as a foal, and the ground is the key to him. All being well he will run at Downpatrick on Tuesday before Noel (O'Brien . handicapper) gets time to reassess him. The Hale's have been with us a long time, and this is their son Paul's first winner.
