Warrior wins Wexford opener
she has been unlucky this year and that win was well overdue for her and I'm nearly more delighted for her owner (John O'Mahony, Thurles) than for myself!. Amazon Warrior ran well at Galway last year, finishing third in a handicap hurdle and might look at going there again for another handicap next.
Moncherie scores for Halford
Ninth Legion routs opposition
he should win a few for us over the summer and is one to look forward to. He has one bad run at Punchestown but scoped bad after that run. Today's ground was bordering on slow for him and he is better over further and on faster ground. He is a smashing jumper of a fence and hopeful we'll have a few good summers with him. He won't be seen in the winter and might now go to Galway.
Sea sweeps away rivals
Sea Of Erris is a hell of a horse at home and works really well. He scoped badly after his last run and I'm glad he proved himself on a racecourse today. He'll jump a fence in time but he'll go the novice hurdling route now.
Fourth Wexford win for Salesin
Salesin loves it around here and has now won four times at Wexford, winning on the Flat, over hurdles and over fences. He likes a bit of an ease in the ground and, while but he mightn't be a Glway Plate horse, he will have an entry in the race. He is useless going left-handed but if I had half a dozen like him I'd be flying!
Bones rattles off double
Mr Bones will probably go to Galway next where he'll be entered in the Galway Blazers Chase - hopefully he'll make the cut for it. He loves that summer ground and is a right auld horse!
O'Dwyer Prospering at local venue
I was a bit worried about the favourite, Your Busy, being rated 119 but there are only a few beginner chases over this trip so we took our chance. He jumped super and he stays great and hopefully the handicapper isn't too hard on him. That's my fourth career double as a trainer. He is owned by Owen Curtin, from, but unfortunately he is on holidays in America at the moment. He must be a lucky owner as it's his first horse and he has now won three times. I think he would have finished in first three at Kilbeggan but was brought down.
that was a long time coming! I didn't think it would take that long to win a bumper but we decided to make the running today and it worked out well. He jumps well but we'll see where he goes next - winning a bumper by a short head probably isn't good enough to win a winners' bumper though.
