McSweeney gets off the mark on Irish return
Oisin has come over to join us and is in the process of getting signed up as an apprentice for our yard. It is a great start and I'm delighted for him. He's a hard-working lad and he'll get huge amount of support in Ireland.
Dundalk double for Starspangledbanner
Danny Murphy to join Cotter's training license
he showed ability last year and just didn't get home. He matured over the winter and had been working very, very well but had run a few very ordinary races so we were wondering. It was hard to be fully confident but, on his work at home, we said to Rory not to be surprised if he found himself in front all the way on this fella. It went to plan and he is really a five-furlong horse. that's a nice way to start the year, banging the two of them in. We have just over 30, including 20 two-year-olds and we won't be delaying. We have some real nice horses this year - Thomas McGrath and Stack Media have spent a good bit of money at the Sales, so hopefully we will get them rewarded.
Sixth success for Jered Maddox
O'Brien completes maidens double
Cash Out is maturing all the time and Dylan said he settled lovely and was always going to win. He actually said they went along at a fair gallop and said it rode like a nice race. He said he could be a horse that could get black-type. He's a big horse and still has filling out to do; when he does, he just could be alright. Turf would suit him as well, without a doubt.
Frankel filly lands Dundalk gamble
she ran well in Galway (in September) and was better than her finishing position, with the ground being very soft.
Autocrat rules on handicap debut
Ghumama wins Dundalk's finale
to be fair, this is her fourth week in-a-row up here and there was nothing coming up for four or five weeks so we took a chance - I don't like giving horses four or five weeks off. Chris Hayes rode her last week and thought she might actually win on finals' day (at today's venue in March).
