Hoban steps in to guide Elite Legion home a good winner
. I rode her the last day in Sligo but the trip was a bit short for her. She handled the ground today though and stayed well. She was quite impressive at the line and is a tough little genuine filly.
Jewel rattles through the Guinness again
L’empathie lifts the mood of the Murphy camp at Listowel
She is a progressive filly and improved from her first run. I don't think it was the best of maidens, she was a bit green and idled in front,. She had a good run when she was green on debut and only beaten four lengths, and she's still learning. She is a three year old winning maiden which is valuable for a filly and if the ground was easier I'd have been more confident. We'll go for a handicap next.
Alexander shows good attitude to win at Listowel
He did that very well in the end and is improving,.
O'Keeffe wins on his first mount for Elliott
Arthur's Quay fit and well and delivers at Listowel
He is a lovely horse and the step up to 2m4f did the job,. His brother (The Big Apple) wasn't a bad horse, I won a bumper on him so he must have been all right and it is a lovely family. We always liked him from day one and it is great he has gone and done it. It's grand to get today over with and Frank (Berry) and J.P. (McManus, owner) will come up with a plan.
Smith and Power gain well deserved Listowel win
On his recent chase form I'd have been disappointed if he didn't win. He was very keen for the first mile but was grand then,. He had a couple of good recent runs over fences and we'll look for a nice chase somewhere now. He is going the right way and there are plenty of chases coming up for him.
Two's a charm for the O'Briens at Listowel
She's a half-sister to Bellshill and that win makes her a valuable broodmare. Danny (Mullins, son of winning trainer Mags) thought she had improved from her first run and it is a pedigree which wants a trip,. I thought she idled in front and when she goes over hurdles over a trip she could improve again. She is only four and Bellshill improved as he got older so they could have a lot of fun with her. She might possibly get black-type over hurdles.
