Monkshood opens jumping account in style
He's actually a nice horse. We have plenty of horses backed up to run in maiden hurdles so we said we better start running a few of them,. He's a big chaser in the making and will be a grand horse. Whatever he does will be a bonus before he goes jumping fences. He'll stay all day.
Treble for Hill as Elliott & Kennedy double up
He's a grand, honest horse. It probably just took him a while to get going there today,. Jack said it was a messy race and he was stuck behind a few and he might not have jumped as well today coming back to hurdles. It was a poor race and he has just about won. He has won three races so job done. I wouldn't say he is a winter horse, if we get another race out of him it would be job done.
Alterno two from two at Downpatrick
He loved it there. The ground was too heavy in Gowran for him and he missed the third last which you can't do that there,. In heavy ground he just didn't get back into it but he still ran a good race. It was a higher-rated race and they were 7lbs higher horses. He loves to be in charge and that boy gave him a super ride. He did everything he was told. I was confident. He likes it here and if you like it here you have a chance of going in again. If we get another race like that he could go for it but he could certainly jump a fence as well, he's a big horse. We wouldn't bother with very deep ground anymore. We let him off last winter and he went to Dundalk but he wasn't mad about Dundalk.
Joey justifies short price
He was a couple of pounds well in with the other horse (Peace News). The other horse was rated on a run that he hasn't run up to for a while,. We'll probably go for one of those good handicaps. The ground is usually very heavy at Ascot for their big handicap hurdle so it's probably unlikely he will go there. It's more likely he will go to Fairyhouse. He won't go over fences this year, that's not the plan.
Canny completes treble for Elliott
Vinnie another for in form Dempseys
He missed the last but he battled well up the hill and relished it. We put the cheek-pieces on him today and Luke went the shortest way around the inside. It was a canny ride. It will probably be more of the same but he is in an amateur race at Punchestown next week over three miles one which would suit him. We'll see how he comes out of this, it might be a bit soon. The owners are from Kildare and are long-time supporters of the stable.
