Hurler recovers losses back in the south-east
He made up for the last day. Had he jumped the last hurdle the last day here he probably would have won. He got caught for a bit of toe going to the second last but stayed on well. We'll probably step him up in trip, and he'll be kept on the go for the summer.
Sexton hits the front in title race
She probably wanted the extra half-mile, and she was fit and ready for today. She'll probably go for a winners-of-one in a few weeks' time. But the minute the ground gets good she's gone for the summer.
Maguire follows up in style
I was very surprised he won the last day. He was broken as a four-year-old and everything happened a bit too quick for him. He got a touch of a leg and he had a year off which transformed him. He came on physically and mentally over that year and he has a nice little engine. I might look for something in Punchestown, maybe something like the Martinstown Final. It's all about keeping a lid on him as he's a bit cracked. He got a great ride, although it's a pity for Brian. I was at a funeral today and got a call from the Byrne's to say their horse (Catimini) wasn't running. Edward (Horgan, owner) told me to run him and credit to him for that as it was too short a notice for him to make it here.
Acres appreciates stamina test
It didn't look a great race on paper and he wants every yard of three miles. We'll keep him going for the summer now. We went to the sales and Colm (husband of owner Kay Browne) said he wanted to buy a grey horse.
Impressive Blue completes 19/1 Nolan double
That was his first run for us and he jumped well. He had some decent runs before today for Micahel Griffin as he won a point-to-point on good ground and was second to a good horse of Gordon Elliott's (Moonshine Lad) in Limerick. This race was restricted to horses rated less than 109 over hurdles so we felt we had to go for it. We have him about three months, and it's nice to have a winner for John Brennan. I'd say it's nearly going back to the Galway Hurdle with Cuan Na Grai (in 2006) since we last had a winner for him. His hurdle rating is 105 so we can always go back over hurdles for a handicap with him.
Supersub Heskin completes 32/1 Doyle double
He's had a full wind op and it's worked, although I didn't think he'd be fit enough coming here today. It's nice to have a double at my local track and it's my first double at Wexford. We'll tip away with him now as he doesn't like the ground too heavy.
Jo makes a winning debut in the bumper
Josephine Marcus was Wyatt Earp's girlfriend so that's who she's named after. She is a very good jumper but she wants soft ground, and Nina has loved her all along. She was just a bit green in front today, and she's never been away from home. We won't run her on fast ground.
