CatDidDo for Donnelly & Phillips
Gary has signed up with us as an apprentice and that's his first winner since signing on. He gave her a great ride and is great value for his 7lb. She gets called a lot of names, and every time she runs I get texts like WillCatDo and CanCatDo. But it was CatDidDo today! She's been very consistent. She may be a bit limited but is genuine. We waited for this race and gave her three weeks rest to freshen up. I always thought the drop back to five furlongs would suit her.
Call records smooth maiden win
It probably wasn't the strongest maiden but small fish are sweet. We'll probably come back here for a little handicap. At least he's got a win now and it will keep the grumpy owner happy!
Speed set for a hefty hike
I think he's learning the more racing he's getting. A couple of people called him ungenuine but I think it was just greenness and he's improving the whole time. Getting his head in front has done him the world of good. He might get a bit of a break now and come back in a couple of months but I'll have to talk to the owner.
Champ off the mark for 2014
Tynan's pride and joy follows up
She's surprised us all by coming here with a rise in the handicap (up 15lb) to do it again. I thought she would be 7 or 8/1 but they backed her into 2/1. I'm delighted with her. When you have only one you have to mind them. It may be a bit different if you had 20 horses. It's great to come back and do it again but I suppose it will be tougher the next time. The plan is to breed off her, so the better she gets the better it will be for that job.
Lordan doubles up in thrilling finish
She is a well-bred filly and has got her win now. Wayne was absolutely brilliant on her. He covered her up as long as possible, and I thought it was ride of the year!. She has loads of ability but it's difficult to get it out of her. She's a full-sister to Forces Of Darkness which is a Group 3 winner. I'm delighted to win for the lads (Co. Laois based Grange Park Partnership) who have been very patient with her.
Papa's shows the Way
He's obviously learned a lot. The cheek-pieces were a help and Steven gave him a great ride. He's been schooling over hurdles all week and seems a natural at that. He might come back here in a few weeks' time or go for a hurdle. He's always showed a bit. I'm delighted for the owner (Rosha Lyttle) as it's her first horse.
