Clonmel Racecourse is a dual-purpose racecourse situated in County Tipperary. Racegoers are treated to racing all year round and a total of 12 fixtures are scheduled at the track, the Grade 2 Clonmel Oil Chase the highlight along with two other grade 2 contests.
Clonmel is a right-handed oval of 1 1/4 miles with a run in of 2 1/2 furlongs and an uphill finish. A low draw can be an advantage at the track because turns are fairly tight.
There are 6 hurdles and 7 fences contested during the jumps season, the hill on the far side tests the horses and it pays to be up with the pace. Clonmel can be a fairly tricky course and as such tends to produce course specialists. There is a dedicated area at the track for those with disabilities.
