This horse stays very well, he got a good run through on the inner which was great. We'll look for another handicap over the Christmas. He is big enough to jump a fence and he'll go at that in time. (EM)

Noland Takes John Durkan

It is really great for Sam, just what he needed, a Grade One winner to get his confidence back. It was the first time that he'd ridden Noland. His owner, John Hales was keen on the King George, but I thought we should stick to middle distances this season and then maybe step-up next year. The Ryanair will be his target with probably one race in between.

We didn't want to frighten him on his first run over fences and I'm delighted with the way he picked up from the last. He is just shy of eighteen hands and that is why we went straight over fences with him (won a point-to-point and a bumper in just four previous appearances). He'll now step-up in trip for the three mile Grade One race at Leopardstown over Christmas. He is a proper horse. (EM)
