The plan came together. She had a terrible draw the last day at Roscommon, she was drawn fourteen of fourteen,. The Stewards enquired into an incident on leaving the back straight involving Shamiran, ridden by J.J. Burke, placed fifth, Easter Spirit, ridden by J.A. Heffernan, placed third and General Bunching (USA), ridden by R.P. Cleary, unplaced, where it appeared that General Bunching (USA) ran short of room and was checked. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were unable to apportion any blame to any rider and took no further action.

An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards (70 = 10st)
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra for each race won Any horse rated above 70 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 10st. Subsequently, the excess over 70 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any three year old rated above 70 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
