An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Raffles Wonder (FR), ridden by Aaron Anderson and trained by Rebecca Menzies, which was dropped out in rear until being asked for an effort turning into the home straight to finish fourth, beaten by 6 ½ lengths.

The rider and trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race, and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.

The rider stated his instructions were to drop Raffles Wonder (FR) out to get him settled, take his time and to do his best from there.

He added that the gelding was keen throughout the race, and when he asked for an effort in the straight, Raffles Wonder (FR) was stopped in his run on several occasions, and had run green thereafter, which he reported at Scale.

He further added that the gelding had then stayed on at the one pace to finish fourth.

The trainer stated that the ride accorded with the instructions given, that she was satisfied with the ride given by Anderson, adding that she was pleased with Raffles Wonder (FR)’s finishing position, considering he had got stopped in his run in the home straight.

Their explanations were noted.

An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately two furlongs out involving the winner, Boy De La Vis (FR), ridden by Charlotte Jones, Had To Be Hugo (IRE), placed third, ridden by Conor O’Farrell, and Impatient (FR), placed second, ridden by Jonjo O’Neill Jr.

Jones was suspended for 3 days for careless riding for allowing her mount to drift left-handed without sufficient correction, causing her mount to give Had To Be Hugo (IRE) a significant bump, which in turn took Impatient (FR) off its intended line.

Following the race, Dillan Hurst reported that Ask My Heather (IRE), unplaced, ran too free.
