Approximately 1 furlong out, French Mix (USA), placed fifth, edged slightly right causing Mr Nathan Seery, the rider of Central City (IRE), placed sixth, to take a slight check, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final ½ furlong when the winner, My Boy Sepoy (GB), ridden by Miss Serena Brotherton, interfered with Steeve (GB), placed second, ridden by Mr.
Patrick Millman.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved My Boy Sepoy (GB)’s placing as as the interference cost Steeve (GB) little momentum and less ground than the 1 ½ lengths that the gelding was beaten by.
Miss Brotherton was suspended for 3 days, on dates to be notified to her by the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority, for careless riding as she allowed her mount to drift right-handed without sufficient correction carrying Mr.
Millman off his intended line and resulting in him having to take a check.
Following the race, Mr Simon Walker reported that Arctic Sea (GB), placed eighth, clipped heels approximately 1 furlong after the start.
