Permission was given for Yorgonnahearmeroar (IRE) to wear a hood in the Parade Ring only and for Give Us A Swig (GB) to also wear a hood in the Parade Ring only and go early to post.
Having reviewed the start, the Stewards were satisfied that Currabeha Hill (IRE) had refused to race and was deemed to be a runner.
The Stewards noted that Brian Hughes, the rider of Present Storm (IRE), placed second, lost his right iron from approximately ½ furlong out until regaining it just before the winning line.
The performance of Gold Leader (GB), which started second-favourite and was pulled up before the third last hurdle, was considered.
Tom Bellamy reported that the mare stopped quickly and the representative of Nigel Twiston-Davies’ explanation that Gold Leader (GB) made a noise on this occasion, was noted.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the mare failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The winner, Give Us A Swig (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Worcester on 20 June 2021 where the gelding finished twelfth of fifteen, beaten by 50½ lengths.
Sean Curran’s explanation that Give Us A Swig (GB) appeared to benefit from the step up in trip to 2 miles and 4 furlongs from 2 miles and that the yard appeared to be coming back into form, was noted.
