The Stewards requested a report from Mrs. C. O'Leary, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Conright Boy, winner, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that her charge pulled up on it's second last start back in May 15th at Killarney, where the good, good to firm in places ground was too quick for him. Then, on it's most recent start, here in Fairyhouse on 4th December, Conright Boy was having his first run of the season, on good ground, in a grade A handicap hurdle. Today, her charge showed the benefit of having it's first run of the season, and in a lesser race, on ground that he has always shown a preference for, may have brought about any apparent improvement in form. Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanations offered. J.B. Kane, rider of Lilshane trained by Thomas P.O'Connor, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was reluctant to race, whipping around at the start and ran out after jumping the first hurdle.

An extended handicap hurdle race for four yrs old and upwards (123 = 11st 10lb)
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap; shall not be less than 11st 10lb
Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap to carry 6lb extra for each hurdle race won.
