It was very straightforward, but Ruby said he was very keen. He was too keen jumping and he probably would have been better running over a shorter trip as he was just so keen.

That looked impressive to me. He's in the Drinmore, but that may come too quick for him. His jumping was very good at the business end. Ruby said he was idling in front which would lead you to believe there's more in the locker. We'll see how he comes out of this; I might put him by until Christmas as he had a tough race. I don't think he needs to go up in trip. I'd be happy to stay at two miles.

I'm delighted with that. He'll probably go to Leopardstown over Christmas for the three-miler,. The RSA at Cheltenham would be the obvious target long-term but it won't be the be all and end all. He could also get an entry for the four-miler there and he likes it here so it would be nice to come back in April. Ruby said it didn't suit him being in front today. He has very little experience. They went so slow in Tipperary (schooling race) that a point-to-pointer was able to stay with him but he got his eye in. He's probably very special and they are so hard to get. He just doesn't let you down and keeps battling and battling. He's lightly raced and that's the way it'll stay. We'll plan our year and stick to it. He copes with heavy ground while other horses might not. He probably wouldn't get that at Cheltenham but I imagine he'd tackle the hill there.

Five up for Walsh on Slicker

He's a tough horse to train and to ride. I left it up to Ruby what to do. If he settled, well and good, but he decided to go on with him,. He looks like he'll jump a fence in time. He's a very slick jumper and there are more days in him. If he doesn't like it heavy we'll put him away until the spring but at the minute we'll go on to Christmas. The race at Ascot (Ladbroke Hurdle) is the one that comes to mind. He's not a horse that will run very often because of his temperament. He seems to favour right-handed tracks.

I'm delighted to get the nod. He was probably crying out for a bit of a trip. He's in during the week over three miles. We'll have a look at it. It's an option and we'll see how he is.
