He is a bit of a thinker on the job, and when he got into trouble he came back on the bridle. When he switched to the farside he got daylight and he took off. He was very good on his day and I've been trying him over different trips. When he won his claimer he bolted up over six furlongs. I was thinking he'd get seven furlongs or a mile. All the jockeys were saying he wanted seven. We decided to stick the hood on him and try him over six furlongs, and see if it made a difference. When he was third at York it was a proper competitive race but he let us down the next day. R Harris, trainer

An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards (90 = 10st)
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra for each race won. Any horse rated above 90 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 10st. Subsequently, the excess over 90 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any three year old rated above 90 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap) Horses which receive a published weight of 8st 3lb or less will be entitled to a 50% reduction in entry fee. Should they be declared to run they will then become liable for the full amount of the cost to run.
