Permission was given for both Lindas Lady (GB) and Abbey Law (GB) wear a red hood to post, and Rohilla (IRE) to go early to post.

The raceday privilege request for Rohilla (IRE), trained by Scott Dixon, to go early to post was late being submitted.

Dixon was warned as to his responsibility to ensure that all raceday privilege requests are submitted by 1pm on the day before racing.

The Starter reported that Abbey Law (GB) was unruly at the start and withdrawn at 5:27pm.

Amy Murphy was informed that the filly could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.

As it was the second occasion within the previous 12 months that Abbey Law (GB) had been reported, a further report within the same period would mean the filly would be prevented from having a stalls test for 6 months.

Leaving the stalls, Inversion (GB), unplaced, jumped left-handed, inconveniencing Fazen (IRE), unplaced.

After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.

An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Formal Address (GB), ridden by Laura Pearson and trained by Brett Johnson, which raced in rear throughout before appearing to be conservatively handled from leaving the back straight until straightening for home, whereupon it stayed on evenly under hands and heels riding to finish seventh of ten runners, beaten by 17¾ lengths.

The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the race and the Veterinary Officer examined the gelding post-race and had nothing to report.

The rider stated her instructions were to drop in and ensure the gelding settled as he had been very keen previously and was also thick in his wind, with the hope of getting Formal Address (GB) to be finding the line better.

Pearson indicated that she jumped out of the stalls with a good hold of the horses head as she wanted to be in a position to find cover from stall 9 and switch the gelding off, however he travelled too strongly again and ran with the choke out.

In explaining her riding from leaving the back straight Pearson told Stewards she was mindful of Formal Address (GB)’s early exertions and was reluctant to go from the gelding pulling to placing him straight under maximum pressure, so she elected to nurse and coax him into the race again with the focus on keeping the bit up in the horses mouth.

From this point Pearson added that approaching the home turn, Formal Address (GB) had made a noise consistent with a horse that was holding its breath and from turning in she had ridden the gelding out hands and heels through to the line, where he passed a few weakening runners, whilst still being inclined to carry his head high.

Pearson’s explanation was noted.

Following the race, Sean Levey reported that Lancashire (FR), placed second, hung left-handed.

Charles Bishop reported that Lindas Lady (GB), unplaced, was never travelling.

Nicola Currie reported that Penny's Spirit (IRE), placed fourth, hung left-handed in the straight.
