One Cool Shabra will put it up to ‘em at Christmas!. He's a nice horse, a good one and will run in the Grade 1 juvenile hurdle next. He did a piece of work at Dundalk on Tuesday and he won pulling up. I knew he was well and knew it would take a good one to beat him today.
Scotsirish wins over Punchestown banks
we've been surprised at home how well Scotsirish took to those fences and we've to thank Ted Walsh for the use of his bank for both Scotsirish and Uncle Junior to practise. Scotsirish didn't even jump as well today as he has at home and while it's been hard work trying to win with him over the last two years, it's now good to have another avenue with him. Cheltenham is on his agenda and we might mix it with him. There is a good programme in France for him and there are a selection there which I have my eye on.
Raptor disappointed the last day at Wexford but made a couple of bad mistakes. I think it just might have been the lack of a run too. He is a fantastic jumper and is very brave. I would have no trouble going longer - to me he is a three mile chaser. However, if the right race came up, the way he jumps I wouldn't be afraid to go back in trip.
The Hard Hat back to winning ways
that's more like it! It was probably a mistake running his at Galway the last day when the ground was terrible. It was his first run back and Puppy (Robbie Power's nickname) did the right thing pulling him up . that's probably the reason he won today. I imagine we'll wait for Christmas now but we'll see what the handicapper does. I imagine he might get into something like the Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown - I'll feel my way with him, he might get the three miles.
Dariak would give you every bit he has and it's nice to come back and get a win with him . he has been off for three years after hurting himself here in 2008.
Tote Trifecta- 343.45
Meade's Ghost denies Mullins treble
you would have to be impressed with Corbally Ghost . he's a lovely big horse and whatever he does over hurdles, he'll be much better over fences. I took him to Lismore point to point to qualify him for the bumper at Fairyhouse but I don't know what happened in that bumper . maybe the ground was too quick or else he was over the top. Everything has gone right since he came back in though and he is a gorgeous, big horse. I won't run him again for at least a month and he jumped brilliant bar the last flight today.
Harrington and Citizenship have the Power
Citizenship was very good there. I was a bit worried because it was his first run in a handicap but it was his first run in a while at Down Royal the last day when he blew up. I thought the ground might be a bit too tacky for him today but he did it well. We'll find another handicap for him now.
Maccas Lad is a horse who has had a lot of problems early in his career. I couldn't get him sound - he broke down and had all sorts of problems with his back and legs. His owner was going to give up on him but I told her when he was right he was a good horse and I would prove it to her. He will go straight hurdling now.
