She’s only 15 hands but she has great heart and wants to try the whole time. The bit of rain helped. She was second on good to firm ground at Fairyhouse but she wants an ease. She was drawn 18 so we thought it would be hard from there but she jumped well. She will go to Listowel and probably somewhere before that. G.P. Halpin, rider of Patrick Joseph (GB) trained by David Marnane, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was slowly away and never travelled

The Stewards interviewed G.F. Carroll, rider of Lady Sonia, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that G.F. Carroll was in breach of Regulation 10.3 (f) in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency and having taking his previous record into account, they cautioned him

The Stewards interviewed T.P. Madden, rider of Finvarra, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3 (g) in that he had used his whip with the arm above shoulder height. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended T.P. Madden for 3 racedays and ordered that he attend R.A.C.E for 1 day's tuition on the correct use of the whip

The Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages involving Very Smart, ridden by K.J. Leonard, Goneinsixtyseconds (GB), ridden by R.P. Downey, Nancy D'alton, ridden by N.G. McCullagh and Dandy Sue, ridden by S.P. Davis, where it appeared Very Smart ran short of room and was checked. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were unable to apportion blame and took no further action
