Permission was given for YOU’RE COOL to go early to post and for Spanish Angel (IRE) to be mounted in the chute and go early to post.
Shortly after the start, Little Girl Blue (GB), unplaced, lugged left-handed away from Spanish Angel (IRE), placed second, causing YOU’RE COOL, placed third, to be checked and make contact with the hindquarters of Okaidi (USA), placed sixth, which in turn became unbalanced and shifted right, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The performance of Yaahobby (IRE) which started second favourite and finished unplaced, was considered.
The representative of Antony Brittain’s explanation that too much use had to be made of the gelding to obtain a prominent early position, before being trapped wide without cover thereafter, was noted.
