The Stewards enquired into an incident about one and a half furlongs from the finish involving Plankton, ridden by C.T. Keane, Red Storm, ridden by S.D. Bowen and Geri Hatrick (GB), ridden by R.P. Whelan, where it appeared that Red Storm checked momentarily when Plankton edged onto his racing line. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, S.D. Bowen stated that he was maintaining a straight line when he took a precautionary check as he got tight for room when Plankton edged inwards. R.P. Whelan stated that he received a slight bump from Red Storm but was having a difficult ride as his own mount was hanging badly to the right. C.T

Keane stated that his mount was making his racecourse debut and ran away from a smack with the whip due to greeness. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that interference had taken place but did not apportion blame to any rider. They did, however, advise C.T. Keane to ride with more awareness. Kevin Borthwick accompanied S.D. Bowen at this enquiry

C.J. MacRedmond, rider of Sovereignty trained by Adrian McGuinness, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount jumped right out of the starting stalls

S.D. Bowen, rider of Red Storm trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount met with slight interference in the latter stages of this race

The Stewards requested a report from M.C. Grassick, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Brown Eagle, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Thomas Dowling, Authorised Representative of M.C

Grassick, reported that the application of blinkers for the first time, the ease in the ground conditions and drop back to a Claiming Maiden today compared to a very competitive handicap the last day at Cork were in their opinion contributing factors to the improved performance. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report

S. Foley, rider of Gregor Mendel trained by Jack W. Davison, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount went left upon leaving the stalls

R.P. Whelan, rider of Geri Hatrick (GB) trained by Adrian McGuinness, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung left under pressure and lost action late on in the straight.
