He's a lovely straightforward horse. He races lazily which you'd love in a horse coming off the Flat. He jumped really well there today. The cheekpieces just helped him travel a little bit better. He was behind the bridle a lot the last day. He went to the line really well and hopefully there is more to come. I wouldn't say he has to have it this soft, I'd say on the Flat it was important because he probably just lacked a gear.

I was impressed with him in Fairyhouse, but we weren’t sure how good a race it was. You have to be impressed with what he did there. . Jack said he didn’t mind that ground. We were running him last year on heavy ground and I couldn’t understand why he was getting beaten. I was disappointed in a few bumpers last year. Maybe he doesn’t want it as soft as that. I’d say he is a good horse and he looks nice. He travels with a lot of pace.

He's a speedy horse and I'm delighted with him. He's a real two miler, a quick horse. He'll definitely stay two miles. I think he was almost foot perfect - even down to the last, he got in close to it and quick away from it. A great performance, he jumped class. He came out of Donnchadh's (Doyle) and all those horses are very well schooled. Last year in Punchestown he was running a bit keen and probably got a bit lit up at the end of the season. He's a lot stronger - even watching him walking around the ring, there is a big improvement in him today. Last year he was light. I imagine the Royal Bond will be where he goes, all being well.

It was a nice start. He's a horse we got from Germany but he's had a lot of issues,. He just started to come right in the last couple of months and I thought we'd pick out a nice maiden hurdle for him. He did it nicely. He jumped the first well but I think that was probably the only one he jumped well!. He'll probably have to learn. He was just a bit keen as a lot of those Flat horses are. We'll look at mixing it with him. There might be a nice Flat race in him before the season ends.

Paul said he was a bit keen but being ex-Flat you would expect that. His jumping was good bar he stood on himself after the last. To recover and win after losing all momentum was impressive. Aubrey McMahon bought him. That’s the second horse he’s run for the syndicate and they’ve both won — My Great Mate was the other one. You’d be looking for improvement when he settles and gets a cleaner round of jumping. He could be a fair horse and he’ll obviously be dual-purpose. He was going well in the autumn and Willie threw him out and gave him a break. I’m sure he’ll go for novice hurdles at Fairyhouse and Punchestown.

It was a good performance, I thought, because he went a little bit right the whole way,. Jack said when he let him on a bit he was better, and he was half-idling in the home straight. He’s a smart horse, so we’ll see where we go. Maybe he will go the other way around. He’s a big chasing horse, he’s a horse for next year really. He has (a fair engine) and they pulled well clear of the third. He (Kennedy) said he won snug.

he'll be a grand horse for the summer, he will jump a fence at some time but today is a lovely day to win because Paul Carty - who owns half of the horse with Natalie (Gilligan), his mother is quite ill in hospital. It is a great boost for them and hopefully she will get a kick out of it as well. Jack gave him a lovely ride as we planned to poke Henry's horse (front-running Champagne Mahler) along and I did think we'd reverse Gowran form with him. He is only getting the hang of things over hurdles now and hopefully will stay progressing.

it took a long time to get Cast A Spell’s act together jumping: she got brought down one day schooling in Thurles and didn't forget it for a long time. The last day at Cork, she was actually heavily in season when she got her black-type and we didn't know until afterwards. We knew that she was a lot better mare than at Cork. She was faultless there today and she has the talent. She always runs with the handbrake a bit half-on, so there is a lot more there than she gives. I found those type of horses will always win plenty of races: she might not win every day, but will win more nice races. I only have a couple of horses so it is great to get a race like this, in a place like this, at a festival like this. We will keep an eye on other festivals now.
