Winners have been hard to come by for Peter Casey since the heady days of Flemenstar but the County Meath handler landed a nice pot when Eight Till Late captured the feature Chef Phelim Byrne Seasuir At The Ivy Room Handicap Hurdle at Wexford.
The seven-year-old has been running well, with placings on his previous two starts, and was sent off a 7-1 chance in the hands of Andrew McNamara, who was chasing a double.
He had work to do rounding the home turn as the well-backed Eshtiall put in a spirited challenge, but Eight Till Late stuck his neck out and forged ahead by half a length.
McNamara had earlier scored on the John Kiely-trained 3-1 chance Cairde Aris who was ridden to lead before the final flight in the Ingard Point Maiden Hurdle and was driven clear to score by three lengths, foiling a gamble on Isabellesprincess
Jumping was the name of the game in the Black Point Mares Beginners Chase as Ger Fox got Ellaway Rose (10-1) home in front for the Joe Kenny team at the 29th attempt.
It looked for all the world as if The Conker Club was going to lift the prize as she eased into the lead going to the final obstacle, but she has been let down by her fencing before and put in a slow one, allowing Ellaway Rose to rally and score by three-quarters of a length.< Up Sluggarh had shown little over fences and was coming off a long break in the Taghmon Handicap Chase, but Davy Fitzgerald's 14-1 chance led going to the second-last under Ben Dalton and had the race sewn up by the final fence.
Paul Nolan's five-year-old Shadow Play (8-1) led just about all the way in the three-mile Oysters Point Handicap Hurdle and found plenty for Robbie Power in the straight, galloping on relentlessly to account for Dante Anna by eight and a half lengths.
John Cullen's Sister Annie (14-1) jumped ahead two out and cleared away to win the first leg of the Cahore Point Handicap Hurdle easily, while Lady Jane Gillespie's Coney Choice (12-1) lasted home by a head in the second split as Moonunderwater surged late.
