< Beroni could be a John Smith's Grand National prospect for trainer Willie Mullins after landing the Troytown Handicap Chase at Navan.
The seven-year-old is 33-1 with Ladbrokes to give Mullins a second success in the Aintree marathon after Hedgehunter in 2005.
Given a patient ride by Paul Townend, Beroni (7-1) made steady headway from the rear to jump into the lead two out and win by four lengths from Casey Supreme
"He jumped fantastic and he obviously stays that trip and plenty more. That opens up a good few more options over fences, though he'll probably get too much of a penalty for the Paddy Power," said Mullins.
Stable jockey Ruby Walsh was out of luck on Polmar in that race but gained quick compensation on Sports Line in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners' Chase.
The 5-6 favourite made all to make a winning debut over fences by nine lengths from Solstice Knight
"He looks a lovely prospect. He is a little bit hyper but he is a great jumper," said Mullins, completing a near 14-1 brace.
"I've viewed him as an Arkle Chase horse and he has done nothing out there to change my view."
Sports Line is 14-1 with William Hill for the Arkle Trophy at Cheltenham.
Jockey Robbie Power enjoyed a 389-1 double on Shanrod (25-1) and Bostons Angel (14-1).
Shanrod, trained by Michael Halford, made a winning jumps debut in the Athlumney 3-Y-O Hurdle while Bostons Angel (14-1) got up close home to claim the Navan Ford EBF Maiden Hurdle.
The Michael Cullen-trained Danny's Vic (6-1) wore down Twelfth Of Never to take the William and Gladys Bourke Handicap Hurdle while Mouse Morris's The Hurl (7-1) led all the way in the "Monksfield" Novice Hurdle.< For Bill (3-1), trained by Michael Winters, took her unbeaten record to five in the ITBA Fillies Scheme EBF (Pro/Am) Flat Race.
