Adrian Maguire landed the Ladbrokes.com Munster National at Limerick with the game Golden Kite
Given a positive ride by young Shane Hassett, the eight-year-old made just about every yard of the running.
The 20-1 shot looked a sitting duck in the straight as Fisher Bridge loomed up under Davy Condon but Golden Kite held on by the narrowest of margins.
"There are plenty of bad days in this game so you've got to enjoy the good ones," said Maguire.
"Shane gave him a cracking ride, he gets on really well with him and I was happy the whole way. He's got a massive heart."
Maguire probably started the day with bigger hopes for Let Yourself Go who was sent of favourite to make it back-to-back successes in the Grade Three PricewaterhouseCoopers Chase.
However, after making the running he dropped away tamely leaving Nick Williams' English raider Cornas (11-8) to run out a pretty comfortable winner.
Winning jockey Daryl Jacob said: "He is a very good horse in his own right but was just 5lb or 6lb short of the top league last season. Hopefully he can make the step up this year."
John Oxx saddled a one-two in the feature race at the Curragh, the Go Racing In Kildare Festival Finale Stakes, however it was not in the order punters expected.< Hazarafa (12-1) wore down 3-1 chance Roses For The Lady in the hands of Ben Curtis.
"I suspect she'll go home tomorrow though you never know, there could be something abroad for her," said Oxx.
"She had a promising first run before disappointing a bit though that was on fast ground. She likes the soft, stays well and she has done her mission now.
"Roses For The Lady has run her last race and she ran well there on ground that wasn't quite soft enough for her. She has won a Listed race and she'll go to stud now too."
Aidan O'Brien had a treble with Petronius Maximus and Gemstone ridden by Johnny Murtagh and Big Occasion with his son Joseph on board.
