The market spoke hugely in favour of Battle Of Marengo before the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial Stakes at Leopardstown, and Aidan O'Brien's charge did not disappoint.
Backed into 2-13 favouritism, the Galileo colt took up the running at halfway and was pushed into a clear lead at the two furlong pole by Joseph O'Brien.
Though the response was not electric, Battle Of Marengo was always doing enough to see off the challenge of Loch Garman scoring by a length and three-quarters.
The O'Brien partnership landed the Derrinstown Stud 1,000 Guineas Trial when Just Pretending ran on strongly to score.
Settled just off the early pace, the 6-1 chance moved into the lead with two furlongs to run and though Hint Of A Tint kept pestering her all the way to the line, Just Pretending struck by a neck in the end.< Duntle returned to action with a win when landing the Group Three Amethyst Stakes.
Travelling sweetly throughout for Wayne Lordan, the 8-13 favourite quickened into the lead over a furlong out and kept up the gallop to repel Custom Cut by three quarters of a length.
Not many horses got into the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Auction Maiden, but Ken Condon's Sacred Aspect was one of them and she battled well to score.
Always on the shoulder of the pacesetting Ealain Abrain, the 16-1 winner took up the running over a furlong out under Shane Foley and though Ealain Abrain battled fiercely, Sacred Aspect was a neck up at the line.
Rory Cleary produced a nice front-running ride aboard Muredach Kelly's Reposer (12-1) to land the Bulmers Live At Leopardstown Summer Festival 2013 Handicap.
Declan McDonogh was at his strongest when driving home Fairview Star (20-1) in the Horse Racing Ireland Pensioners Handicap, while the FM104 Strawberry Alarm Clock Family Days Maiden went to 7-2 chance Ralston Road
