Review leopardstown 11th Aug
< Future Generation (3-1) upset the well-fancied Emiyna to land the Group 3 Desmond Stakes, the feature event on Leopardstown's evening card.
Ger Lyons' filly cut out the early running with Moran Gora and as that pair kicked for home two furlongs out, the favourite came with what looked to be a wining run.
However, the daughter of Hurricane Run dug deep as John Oxx's inmate came to challenge and pulled out enough to hold on by three-quarters of length.
The well-regarded Lady WIngshot (2-1fav) got off the mark at the third time of asking with a half-length victory in the opening Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F. Fillies Maiden.
After two good efforts over 6f, the Jim Bolger-trained filly clearly relished the extra furlong as she stayed on to get the better long-time leader Pearl In The Sand in the final 100 yards, with Ahimsa snatching second in the final strides.< Seeharn (3-1 joint-favourite) stayed on well to run out a convincing winner of the Breast Cancer Ireland Handicap.< Bold Thady Quill attempted to make all but Kevin Prendergast's charge was always going well and took over a furlong from home before powering clear to record a two-length verdict over Shane Foley's mount.
Aidan O'Brien's Mannheim was a warm order (4-6fav) in the Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F. Maiden but it was the Ballydoyle second-string, Astrology who took top honours.
The favourite did battle with Kashmir Peak and Canaille up the home straight and it looked as if the latter was just going to come out up top, but a perfectly-timed ride from David McCabe saw the 10-1 shot fly down the outside to win by a handy two lengths.
Johnny Murtagh got on the scoresheet with Barrow Island who justified favouritism to run out a length-and-a-half winner of the Leopardstown Cup handicap at the main expense of Six Silver Lane while Un Hinged (8-1) pulled a length clear of Leaves You Baby to came out on top in the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap.
