Liz Doyle produced Rich Revival fighting fit off a 623-day lay-off to take the New Value Hospitality Packages At Fairyhouse Beginners Chase.
The eight-year-old had not seen a racecourse since finishing unplaced in a maiden hurdle at Gowran in April of 2011, and was also jumping fences for the first time, but he was far from friendless in the market and went off a 10-1 chance.
Brian O'Connell chased joint-favourite Panther Claw coming down the straight and after the duo jumped the last together, it was Rich Revival who found the most for pressure to win by a length and a quarter.
The Dessie Hughes-trained Canaly took some decent scalps as he stayed on really well to land the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase in the hands of Bryan Cooper.
There were plenty in with a chance at the second-last, but the 10-1 shot asserted and held Terminal by half a length, with Alderwood in third and Darwins Fox a disappointing favourite.
Willie Mullins looked to have found a nice opportunity for Apt Approach (11-8 favourite) in the Follow Fairyhouse On Twitter Rated Hurdle and so it proved, the classy chaser leading going to the last under Paul Townend and holding Prince Rudi by a length.
Patrick Mullins moved ever closer to the record number of wins by an amateur in a calendar year when his father's City Slicker (10-11 favourite) romped away with the bumper.
Mags and Danny Mullins teamed up in the Christmas Party Raceday At Fairyhouse Mares Maiden Hurdle with Oscars Joy (7-1), who settled down for a fight with Caoimhe's Delight and battled hard to get the better of her rival by a length and a half.< Robertstown Rover (11-1), racing from 6lb out of the handicap but with Mark Enright taking off 5lb, was prominent throughout to win the New Years Day 2013 At Fairyhouse Handicap Chase, and Tim Carroll delivered a well-timed challenge to take the Fairyhouse Membership 2013 Handicap Hurdle on Speed Dial (4-1 favourite).
