Review dundalk 17th Feb
Tommy Carmody was back among the winners in the training ranks as Andrew Tinkler's colours were carried to victory on an Irish racecourse for the first time with the Dundalk success of Miss Mediator
Tinkler's crack three-year-old Dubawi Gold finished second in the Irish 2000 Guineas last season but he was with Richard Hannon, who also had Miss Mediator last year.
Carmody now has several Tinkler horses and Miss Mediator (5/4) travelled sweetly for Johnny Murtagh in the Bookings At dundalkstadium.com Fillies Maiden before taking charge inside the final furlong to score by three-quarters of a length.
Carmody - whose last winner was in 2002 - and Murtagh attempted to double up with the owner's Rasputin in the www.dundalkstadium.com Claiming Maiden, but though he ran well enough, he had no answer to Eddie Lynam's Atticus Finch
Second on his previous three outings this year, the three-year-old (4-5 favourite) led all the way under Wayne Lordan, who pushed him clear in the straight to score by three and a quarter lengths.
The Tinkler team's third and final runner, Vassaria finished on the heels of the leaders in a tight finish to the Rambo By Horseware Ireland Handicap, which was grabbed in the shadow of the post by Gary Phillips on Garvan Donnelly's Samollie (8-1).
The latest member of a famous riding clan, young Megan Carberry, partnered her first winner when Niall Madden's Shake The Bucket (14-1) got the better of Johnnys Legacy by a neck in a driving finish to the Winter Racing At Dundalk Apprentice Handicap.
It has taken a long time for Fleeting Moment to drop down to a rating he is capable of winning off, but the Pat Martin-trained seven-year-old scored at the 38th attempt on the Flat in the Group Discounts At Dundalk Handicap.
Back to a mile after three abortive runs over longer trips, the 12-1 shot was in the firing line coming down the straight under Andrew Thornton and forged ahead in the final 100 yards to beat Kalacan by three-quarters of a length.
