Review ballinrobe 19th Jul

< Sicilian Secret made light work of a small but decent enough field when landing the Eamon Sheridan Plant Hire Novice Hurdle at Ballinrobe.

Willie Mullins' gelding travelled with ease for David Casey as Ninth Legion led the field for much of the early stages.

Casey switched hands with his whip on the turn for home as he eased the 6-4 favourite in front, but he never had recourse to use the persuader as his mount moved willingly clear, scoring by an emphatic five lengths.

Conditional jockey Tony Kelly's day to remember started when Major Harry caused a huge upset in the Yolanda O'Gorman Memorial Handicap Hurdle.

The Pat Kelly-trained 33-1 chance managed to break his duck at the 15th attempt when edging out Spa Wells by a head.

The 7lb claiming rider then snaffled the first double of his career when guiding home Michael Flannery's Bean Chroi Bhriste (3-1) in the Jennings Meats Handicap Hurdle.

Kelly got a good tune out of Markey Cee in the Beamish Raceday Handicap Hurdle, but he had to settle for third behind 7-1 chance Information

Favourite Seader landed the Mayo Maiden Hurdle as expected, but was made to work much harder than his odds of 4-7 would have suggested.

Jessica Harrington's charge travelled sweetly, but long-time leader Minella King would not go down without a fight.

Just edging into the lead over the last, Seader got on top close home under a strong Barry Geraghty drive before running on to score by a length and a quarter.< Much Acclaimed may have been a lesser light on the level, but he looks to have a bigger future over obstacles after landing the Mayo News Maiden Hurdle.

Favourite In A Nutshell was ahead over the last, but Much Acclaimed (14-1) responded well to Paddy Mangan's urgings and got back up to win by a length and a half.
