Youcantcallherthat rsquo;s appearance in the Wexford Vintners (Mares) Handicap Hurdle is one of the most interesting elements to the Bank Holiday Monday card at the south-eastern venue.
Her Galway-based owners, the Lostwelton Syndicate, and the Brian Boru mare’s trainer, Denis Hogan, have had tremendous fun with the seven-year-old, and there could be more to come in the weeks and months ahead.
Youcantcallherthat is currently rated 143 over fences, so her prospects are there for all to see when she competes now off a hurdles mark of 87.
Hogan himself takes the reins on the black-type chase performer, and she missed out when third reserve for a three-miler at this course on Sunday.
She goes over two-and-three-quarter miles here, and it will be interesting to see how she goes in the betting on her first outing since the Punchestown Festival in the spring.
Peter Fahey ’s Peregrine Run heads a small but select field of five for the M. W. Hickey Memorial Chase.
This Listed event over two miles and seven furlongs looks a good opportunity for the eight-year-old, who ran better than his final placing suggests when third to Woodland Opera in the Grade Two PWC Champion Chase at Gowran Park earlier this month.
The two and a half miles there was on the short side for Peregrine Run, who was putting in his best work at the finish.
However, the likes of the Gigginstown House Stud-owned and Gordon Elliott-trained mare, Dinaria Des Obeaux will not make it easy for the likely market-leader.
Ruby Walsh has two mounts at Bettyville — Mister Blue Sky in the Nick O’Donnell Memorial Maiden Hurdle and Cool Colonnade in the IRIS First For Racing Footage In Ireland Rated Novice Hurdle.
Willie Mullins’ pair could justifiably feature in many a multiple wager on a busy day for the sport in Ireland.
