The second split of the Goresbridge Handicap (45-65) saw Devious Dreamer make all the running in the hands of 5lb claimer Luke McAteer.
She’s Good Company (5/1) looked a threat as she challenged on the outer racing to the final furlong, but the winner found plenty for pressure and, with the running rail to help him, stayed on well to beat that one by half a length.
The Buratino gelding, who was winning for the first time, has been consistent since going handicapping and finished a very close fourth in a blanket finish at Leopardstown last week.
After his 2-year-old Dolly May at Limerick on Saturday, it was a second winner in three days for trainer James Barrett who said: “It's a long overdue win, he's been chinned twice at Dundalk.
“The last day in Leopardstown, Luke got the split, did everything right, and just a couple came to beat him.
“It was a drop in class today. He was coming from a 45-75 and probably the best run of his life.
“I think he'll go in again as he seems to be improving and fast ground is the key to him.
“He's a great fun horse for the boys and it's a great result for everyone.
“It's grand to have a local winner as well,” added Barrett who, appropriately enough, trains in nearby Goresbridge.
