Foveros landed plenty of wagers with a facile victory in the concluding two mile handicap in the Curragh.
His price more halved this morning (9/1 to 7/2) and his backers must have thoroughly enjoyed the way he put his rivals away in this staying test.
The six-year-old gelding travelled smoothly on the testing ground and moved ominously well into second behind Dinard Rose with over a quarter of a mile to go.
Wayne Lordan sent him on a furlong and a half down and he readily drew clear to come home by an unextended five and a half lengths. Further support saw him got off 11/4 favourite.
He reverted to the Flat off a mark of 65 after a couple of unplaced runs in Grade B and Grade A handicap hurdles at Punchestown and Fairyhouse respectively.
He gave Willie Mullins a double at Headquarters on Irish 1,000 Guineas day as he was also responsible for Baby Zeus in the mile and two handicap. Weather Alert came through for second at 16/1 from a tiring Dinard Rose (28/1). Lynwood Gold gave his backers an each-way return in fourth at 12/1.
Assistant trainer David Casey said: “He was good and I’d say the conditions on the day suited him well. He’s a horse that handles soft ground well and Wayne said he really enjoyed the conditions. He travelled well and had a light weight on his back.
“He ran ok in Punchestown. I know he finished tenth but it was a very competitive handicap hurdle. He’s been working good and the conditions were the main thing.
“We’ll find another one for him. There is probably one here on Derby weekend and then maybe at Galway.”
