All roads lead back to Galway for Walking On Glass after the dual-purpose gelding recorded an impressive fifth career win in the Kilbegganraces.com Handicap Hurdle.

The six-year-old son of Big Bad Bob, only denied in the stewards room at Punchestown last time, won a two-mile handicap on the Flat at Ballybrit last summer and now has a number of options later this month after a facile win here.

The well-backed 6/4 favourite struck the front on the long run between the final two flights and stayed on strongly under Darragh O’Keeffe to beat Go Another One by nine and a half lengths. Alohamora was a neck further back in third.

Winning trainer Padraig Roche said, “He’s a little star and it’s great that the lads (Fivers & Tenners Syndicate) were back to see him win today.

“They weren’t able to go to Galway when he won last year and hopefully he’ll head back there again.

“He could go for the same Flat race he won or I might give him an entry in the good 2m6f handicap hurdle after that.

“He rarely runs a bad race. That three miles seems to suit him and he gets two miles on the Flat — he stays well. He tries his heart out and is a great little horse to have in the yard.”
