Waaheb became the third winning favourite of the day when bringing up a double for Dermot Weld in the Derek Ryan Plays Live July 24th Maiden at Limerick.
Easier to back at even money, than he had been earlier in the day, those on the 'jolly' may have been a little worried as clear pace-setter Too Straight still held a healthy advantage into the straight.
However in reality there was always the possibility that Too Straight (rated just 45) would fold and this transpired as Waaheb powered through under Fran Berry in the J P McManus silks to prevail by nine and a half lengths from Go Gentle
Earlier at the number one courtesy of Sparkle Factor Kris Weld was back in the coveted position here and he reflected: "He seems to like Limerick – the last time he ran here he won in similar fashion (the Listed Kevin McManus Bookmaker Bumper in 2011).
"We'll talk to Frank (Berry) and J P but I think Fairyhouse might come a bit quick and we might look more towards Punchestown instead.
"Everything is open for him after that."
Considering Waaheb's victory early this year arrived at Cork, Weld signed off with a "he seems to like the Munster air," quip. (TW & EM)
