Fons Vivus stayed on strongly in the closing stages to post a fine front-running performance on her 'track' debut in the mares bumper at Cork this afternoon.
The Padraig Butler-trained mare had won a point-to-point at Boulta last month and went to post a 9/1 shot on her racecourse bow.
Darragh Allen bounced out in front on the daughter of Fame And Glory and he had a willing partner in the closing stages.
After being asked for a effort two-and-a-half furlongs from home the winner stuck on stoutly in the closing stages to post a four-and-three-parts-of-a-length victory over Henning
"I'm delighted with that. She won in Boulta in December and after that we knew she liked the soft ground and were delighted to see the meeting go ahead this morning.
"She is a lovely mare and her half-brother (Final Nudge) was second in the Veterans Final at Sandown earlier today.
"All credit to Daragh Allen and we've had great success with him in point to points and he rode my first track winner at Galway last October. We'll see how she comes out of this and she is a great jumper as well."
