Punters couldn't get enough of Ttebbob in the Grade Three Klairon Davis Novice Chase at Navan and they were duly rewarded after his sparkling performance.
From 4/6 this morning, he opened at 1/2 and was backed down to 2/5 on the off. He sailed along in front and routed his two opponents, Lord Scoundrel and Shadow Catcher by 41 and 94 lengths respectively.
He made all to win in Thurles by six lengths last month on his chasing debut and more of the same was served up today. He popped his fences in style and his two rivals couldn't go with him. He wasn't extended in coming home by a wide margin in this two mile one contest.
Handler Jessica Harrington said: “He could only go out and beat them and he did that.
“He didn't put a foot wrong and even when he does get in close he lands way out the far side.
“He's very exciting and I'm very scared watching him. It's definitely heart in the mouth.
“There are going to be horses take him on but the great thing with him is you can take him wide and let him do his own thing.
“All being well he'll go to Leopardstown at Christmas for the two mile one furlong. I think I'll keep him at this trip. I know he has won over three miles and know he stays.
“He was actually more settled today and also more settled in the parade ring as loads of things can get him upset.
“He's been to Cheltenham before, even though he was brought down, so hopefully when the time comes that's not a big issue.”
Robbie Power said: "He still hasn't made a mistake! He was fantastic today. I mean you just worry about the way he goes on that ground but I mean it would have taken a fair horse to lie up his backside the gallop he goes on that ground, and he maintains it.
"My lad saw the first fence, took a hold of the bit, and winged it. I mean the first three fences down the straight he stood at the wings and he just loves getting on with things.
"I had a look round and I saw that Bryan (Cooper on Lord Scoundrel) was struggling and I let him pop the second last. I was kind of half trying to take him back going to the last and he grabbed hold of the bit again so I says 'go on and stand again at the wings if you want'.
"I suppose his next run is going to have to be in a Grade One or a Grade Two but I just hope that Christmas doesn't come too soon for him. The way he goes he's very hard on himself in a race. We've only got 14 days now to Christmas or less. Jessica is a fantastic trainer, she'll know the horse and she'll make a decision closer to the time."
Paddy Power cut him from 20/1 to 7/1 for the Racing Post Novice Chase and gave him an introductory quote of 25/1 for the Racing Post Arkle.
